Arrival and Departure
Access road (summer season from 01.05.2025)
The Farrenau access road leads you directly to the Hochberghaus, nestled in a magical setting above the Almtal valley. Starting from the center of Grünau im Almtal, follow the prominently displayed signposts up to the Hochberghaus Resort.
Summer season 2025
We'll be opening for the summer season starting May 1st and will be open until the end of October 2025 for your relaxing nature experiences, including a restaurant with a sun terrace! Our hotel and restaurant are open 7 days a week and look forward to your visit high above the Almtal valley.
Traunstein taxis
The Traunstein Taxi service is happy to support your car-free vacation. The Traunstein Taxi will take you to the Hochberghaus and many stops in the region. Climate Ticket holders can transfer from public transport to the Traunstein Taxi at the taxi stops for particularly discounted fares.
Fantastic food, celebrations, hiking, resting
From the Hochberghaus, you'll hike along magnificent circular trails to the peaks of the Kasberg. Enjoy views over the Almtal valley, the Salzkammergut region, and the mighty Totes Gebirge mountains. Our unique restaurant, featuring homemade dishes, is the ideal location to experience our expert cuisine on the sun terrace (or inside). Our rustic ski hut is also a top venue for celebrations and weddings in the summer.
Important information
Because we maintain the mountain road extensively, we charge a usage fee of €15 per car for day visitors. For guests with the Salzkammergut Summer Card 2025, the fee is reduced to €12 per car.
This ensures the road remains safe and accessible for everyone. This benefits both the surrounding forest and road users. Hotel guests staying overnight at the Hochberghaus can use the road free of charge.
